As I'm sure you were able to tell from the examples I created, it's Bones fic that has sparked this recent rant. However, I've found worse in the Harry Potter genre, which (if I recall) you're lucky enough to avoid! I've even seen it in SG1/SGA fics. Usually it's in fics that aren't that well written, so I'm not necessarily likely to keep reading anyway, but I've been shocked to find it in the middle of some really good ones sometimes. I just don't get it.
