Absolutely stunning snippet. I feel as torn as Rodney, Lorne and the rest of atlantis.

There seems to be a gradual progression over time, in how Rodney and Lorne feel about John.

Rodney started out caring for John due to a need to 'fix him' because he had lost his best friend and team-mate. (Kind of the brother he never had)

Lorne loved the little guy but was a little freaked at first because this cute little bundle of innocence was his 'commanding officer' and it's a little unnerving. He soon came to think of him however, as the son he could have had.

When someone cares for a child for any length of time, it's hard not to get attached, and weeJohn has stolen their hearts.

I can't imagine Atlantis without John Sheppard, but after 'meeting' weeJohn, I can't imagine not having the little tyke around either.

They lost a friend/team-leader/brother. But in order to get him back they will lose a child. (It's got to be like a parent losing their child. weeJohn has been under their care and guidance for three years.) This is going to be bittersweet for everyone.

I can't wait to read the main fic and future snippets. I'm addicted. You write so well!!
